The city government of Alaminos and the Pangasinan State University (PSU) convened for the historic groundbreaking ceremony and contract signing for the construction of the PSU Alaminos city Campus on December 14, 2009.

The ninth campus of PSU will soon rise at the Bayanihan Center for Rural Development (BCRD) Building Grounds in Bolaney, Alaminos City, Pangasinan. The guest of honor and speaker for the said event, CHED Chairman Emmanuel Y. Angeles, was represented by CHED OIC Director for Public Assistance Mr. Eulando Lontoc. “Let us all invest in the youth” Lontoc articulated during his speech. He also encouraged everyone to help build TOTAL quality persons by guiding the youth in discovering what they are capable of doing and persuading them to pursue it. He also assured that the commission will always be supportive of initiatives dedicated to the advancement of the education sector.

Moreover, PSU President Victoriano C. Estira was also represented by OIC President and VP for Planning and Administration Dr. Lydia C. Buduhan. In her message, she elucidated on aspiring to make big dreams a reality. Such is the case of the construction of the PSU campus in Alaminos City which embodies the dream of its people of having a state university that will cater to the needs of its youth for quality but affordable education and for PSU to show that it is capable of expanding geographically and reaching out to more Pangasinenses and proving that PSU is a major university of the region.

Alaminos city Mayor Hermani A. The educational facility which has an estimated cost of ten million will be situated in a 4.5 hectare land owned by the city government of Alaminos at Brgy. Bolaney. The edifice will be a two-storey building of modern architecture which will be funded by the city government of Alaminos as well as provided for under a Memorandum of Agreement entered into by and between the local government of Alaminos City and the Pangasinan State University.

On the other hand, PSU shall provide the access and learning opportunities through its degree and ladderized degree programs, and extension and research programs. Proposed initial program offerings will include Teacher Education, Business Management, Fisheries, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Agriculture, and Medical courses such as caregiving, nursing aide, medical transcription, BS Nursing and Doctor of Medicine.
