Upon completing their academic requirements, supported by the approval of the University Academic Council, and conferred by the Board of Regents, 690 senior students marched up stage last March 20,2010 at the Dagupan City Stadia. CAST Chronicles Triumphs

AFTER sweeping 6 trophies in the Group Competition (Broadsheet Category) and wining 13 medals from the Individual Competitions, a booming 136 points was produced, therefore enabled the CAST Chronicle secure the 5th Runner-Up spot in the Top 10 Performing Publications of the Ilocos Region during the 10th Regional Higher Education Press Conference held at Urdaneta Garden Resort, Urdaneta Pangasinan last November 25-27 2009. Oblanca wins 1st Place in Opinion Writing

Mark Gerry Oblanca showcased his writing ability after winning 1st place in Opinion Writing Filipino Category in the 9th Luzon wide Higher Education Press Conference last February 8-10, 2010 held at Consuelo Hotel Lingayen, Pangasinan. The said Campus Journalism Press Conference was participated by different Colleges and Universities form Regions 1 to 5 including CAR. The CAST Chronicle publication also won in the group competition-broadsheet category and was awarded 4th place in Best in Features Page from entire Luzon. RHEPC ’09 Highest Individual Pointer

DENMARK Dela Cruz, CAST Chronicle Artist earned 24 points (20 points for bagging 2 gold medals in Editorial Cartooning and Literary Graphics Illustration and another 4 points for landing 6th in Comics Strip Drawing, all in Filipino Category). His hard-earned points enabled him to occupy the 3rd place in the Top 10 Highest Pointers in the Individual Competitions during the 10th Regional Higher Education Press Conference (RHEPC) held at Urdaneta Garden Resort, Urdaneta Pangasinan last November 25-27 2009. IPPRO student writers’ camp, held

The Institutional Planning and Public Relation Office (IPPRO) held a two-day training camp in campus journalism for student writers on October 6-7, 2009 at the University’s Hotel and Restaurant Management and Training Center in Lingayen. Anchored on the theme “Campus Journalism: Invigorating the True Essence of a Genuine Democracy”, the training was participated in by staff members and advisers of the campus papers from the Lingayen, Bayambang, Urdaneta, Sta. Maria, Asingan, San Carlos City, Infanta, Binmaley, and Alaminos City campuses. With IPPRO Director Leticia Ursua at the helm, the Training was organized to equip the campus journalists with skills and techniques that would help them develp their talents in writing and compete in different categories at press conferences. PSU Bayambang achieves 87% in LET for Secondary level

The College of Teacher Education in Pangasinan State University in Bayambang recorded an 87% passing percentage in the 2009 licensure examination for teachers-secondary level for its first time examinees. Out of 46 first-time takers, 40 passed examination given on October 2009. However, there were 41 repeaters who failed contributing to the over-all performance rating of the said campus at 49% versus the over-all national passing rate of 28%. PSU ranks 7th in Phil Science Consortium Quiz Bee

Among 24 state universities and colleges (SUCs) who are council members of the Philippine Science Consortium (PCS). The Pangasinan State University (PSU) lands in the prominent top ten list occupying the number seven slots in the recently concluded annual quiz bee held at the Bataan Peninsula State University on December 2-4, 2009. Furthermore, PSU ranks first in Region 1. The contestants competed in areas such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. Mabette de Guzman and Elpidio Ferrer of PSU Bayambang represented the University in the Biology category and landed on second spot. The contestants were coached by Mrs. Grace Suratos. PSU Urdaneta’s ME Board exam is 4th in national standing

The Pangasinan State University (PSU) – Urdaneta campus ranked number four in nationwide standing and number one in the regionwide level in the Mechanical Engineering licensure examination. It registered an over-all performance rating of 100% over the national passing percentage of 60.47%. Eight out of the eight examinees passed the said board examination given in October 2009. PSU-Urdaneta campus trailed behind the University of the Philippines (23 examinees), PUP-Taguig (15 examinees), Central Mindanao University (13 examinees) and Mindanao Polytechnic State University (13 examinees).
