AFTER sweeping 6 trophies in the Group Competition (Broadsheet Category) and wining 13 medals from the Individual Competitions, a booming 136 points was produced, therefore enabled the CAST Chronicle secure the 5th Runner-Up spot in the Top 10 Performing Publications of the Ilocos Region during the 10th Regional Higher Education Press Conference held at Urdaneta Garden Resort, Urdaneta Pangasinan last November 25-27 2009. Mark Gerry Oblanca showcased his writing ability after winning 1st place in Opinion Writing Filipino Category in the 9th Luzon wide Higher Education Press Conference last February 8-10, 2010 held at Consuelo Hotel Lingayen, Pangasinan. The said Campus Journalism Press Conference was participated by different Colleges and Universities form Regions 1 to 5 including CAR. The Institutional Planning and Public Relation Office (IPPRO) held a two-day training camp in campus journalism for student writers on October 6-7, 2009 at the University’s Hotel and Restaurant Management and Training Center in Lingayen. Anchored on the theme “Campus Journalism: Invigorating the True Essence of a Genuine Democracyâ€, the training was participated in by staff members and advisers of the campus papers from the Lingayen, Bayambang, Urdaneta, Sta.
